Our Vision: Knowing, Living, Sharing Christ

The church's vision is "Knowing, Living, Sharing Christ".

Knowing Christ

YBC exists to help individuals develop and grow in their knowledge of Christ. We aim to do so through regular worship, Bible teaching, and prayer.
(“That I may know him” - Philippians 3 v 10)

Living Christ

YBC exists to encourage and support individuals to live out their Christian commitment in everyday life whether in the home, at work or at play.
(“You are the light of the world” - Matthew 5 v 14)

Sharing Christ

YBC exists to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with a needy and lost world. We aim to support and encourage evangelism both within and without the church, both at home and overseas.
(“Go into all the world and preach the gospel” - Matthew 28 v 30)

This is expressed in the following ways:

  • Service: Being equipped to use gifts in service – both in church and in the world.
  • Worship: Encountering God in church services, groups and in life.
  • Outreach: Spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, from Priory Street to the other side of the world.
  • Relationships: Using our relationships to be role models pointing towards Christ.
  • Discipleship: Learning how to follow Jesus better and making new disciples

Above all our focus is on Christ and we seek to bring honour and glory to His name in all that we do and are.

What We Believe

We are an Evangelical Bible-believing church. As a member of the Evangelical Alliance, we subscribe to its Basis of Faith.

What is a Christian?

Welcome to our section on what it means to be a Christian. Here you can find our more about the Christian faith or find a course that will help you discover who Jesus is and what he can do for you.

What is Christianity?

Here's a video by Christianity Explored, based on Two Ways to Live, which should help you understand the basis of the Christian faith:

Christianity Explored Courses
Christianity Explored is a seven week course that explores who Jesus is, why he came and what it means to follow him through the eyes of Mark’s gospel. The course can be run in small groups or on an individual basis. We plan to set up several courses following our Real Lives week.

To register interest in joining a course or to receive details of when and where the next courses will run, email ce@yorkbaptist.org.uk
